Kelly Lake Cree Nation

Kelly Lake is a Cree speaking community, approximate lineage 800 Cree speaking people, in northern eastern British Columbia.

They are the recipient of the 2001 Aboriginal Business Economic Developer of the Year Award from the All Nation Trust Company (ANTCO) and are the first self-governing nation to achieve this award.

Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council

The Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council is dedicated to protect, assert and exercise their aboriginal rights that will bring about self-sufficiency and well being of their people. This will be accomplished by encouraging and supporting community development which maximizes and enhances our people, culture and resources.

Sk’elep School of Excellence

Since 2003 the Sk’elep School has provided educational opportunities for all children that balance high academic standards and traditional Secwepemc Culture.

Students who attend the school have the opportunity to learn the Shuswap language as well as participate in a variety of cultural activities & ceremonies. They are located on the Kamloops Indian Band.

Ts'kw'aylaxw First Nation

Ts'kw'aylaxw First Nation, also known as the Pavilion Indian Band, is located in the south central interior of BC, approximately 40km northwest of Lillooet.

There community facilities include an administration building, community hall, daycare and preschool, fire hall, Pow Wow grounds, a church originally built in 1898 and a skating rink.

Whispering Pines / Clinton Indian Band

The Whispering Pines / Clinton Indian Band is located north of Kamloops, just north of Heffley Creek. The WP/CIB are known as the Pellt'iq't People and are part of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council. Due to WP/CIB's strategic location, natural attributes, and exposure to high traffic volumes, the Band has tremendous potential for growth.

Their new web site gives them the opportunity to get their message of 'we are open for business' to the world. Using SiteCM Lite they have access to the entire SiteCM feature set. They have also opted for the SiteCM's Membership Extranet for members only information.

Lheidli T’enneh First Nation

The translation of the word Lheidli means "where the two rivers flow together." and T'enneh means "the People". Lheidli T'enneh has a vast traditional territory stretching over an area of 4.3 million hectares from the Rocky Mountains to the beautiful interior plateau.

The Lheidli T'enneh community is adjacent to the City of Prince George. By managing their resources in a sustainable manner and seeking new economic opportunities, they are keen to expand their participation on the wider global economy.

Lower Nicola Indian Band

The Lower Nicola Indian Band belongs to the Swxexmx (“People of the Creeks”) branch of the Nlaka’pamux Nation of the Interior Salish peoples of British Columbia.

They are responsible for operating a number of entities - a band school, child development centre, community health services centre, adult education centre and fire hall, as well as two band owned enterprises, Shulus Cattle Company Ltd and Lower Nicola Band Enterprises, a holding company for 63 acres of undeveloped land on the Coquihalla Highway.

Nicola Valley Institute of Technology

The Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) is BC’s Aboriginal public post-secondary institute. They are located in Merritt, BC.

NVIT provides a comprehensive range of courses and programs relevant to Aboriginal communities as well as main stream society.

West Bank First Nation

The primary objective for the Westbank First Nation’s new web site was to provide interactive communication to their members, residents and businesses. The web site needed to a strong communications tool and have with a sense of community with a cultural flavour. With SiteCM they now have a professional CMS and with Koch Ink a design that incorporates the cultural aspects of the Westbank First Nation. 

Each of the four major section contains further information that is briefly described on the home page. Each section is available from any page so visitors can easily move throughout the site. The colour coding is a visual cue as well. I especially like their How Do I? page.
