The Lower Nicola Indian Band belongs to the Swxexmx (“People of the Creeks”) branch of the Nlaka’pamux Nation of the Interior Salish peoples of British Columbia.
They are responsible for operating a number of entities - a band school, child development centre, community health services centre, adult education centre and fire hall, as well as two band owned enterprises, Shulus Cattle Company Ltd and Lower Nicola Band Enterprises, a holding company for 63 acres of undeveloped land on the Coquihalla Highway.
The Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) is BC’s Aboriginal public post-secondary institute. They are located in Merritt, BC.
NVIT provides a comprehensive range of courses and programs relevant to Aboriginal communities as well as main stream society.

The primary objective for the Westbank First Nation’s new web site was to provide interactive communication to their members, residents and businesses. The web site needed to a strong communications tool and have with a sense of community with a cultural flavour. With SiteCM they now have a professional CMS and with Koch Ink a design that incorporates the cultural aspects of the Westbank First Nation.
Each of the four major section contains further information that is briefly described on the home page. Each section is available from any page so visitors can easily move throughout the site. The colour coding is a visual cue as well. I especially like their How Do I? page.
